#gofitt about us
Our Mission
Let's Start From The Beginning
We were thinking about how we could possibly compete with the Big Box Gyms in the area… We thought about our own membership to the Big Box Gym. We thought about our membership to our Favorite Private Gym. We had to have both memberships even though we preferred to work out at our Favorite Private Gym.
Our Favorite Private Gym was a little too far away from home to work out there daily, and sometimes we traveled and needed a gym on the road. We decided that when we opened our gym, we would talk to our Favorite Private Gym and make an arrangement where our people could work out at their gym, and their people could work out at our gym. We let that sink in for a few minutes – BOOM! What if we postponed opening our own gym and just focused on connecting private gyms?
Private gyms could all join together, not compete with each other and compete with Big Box Gyms instead. Private gym owners could have different levels of membership and access to many locations with no capital investment and gym members could join private gyms but keep the convenience of having a multi-location Big Box Gym membership. It’s a win for everyone!

James has been involved in fitness pretty much his whole life. He just keeps reinventing himself!
He has done half-marathons, marathons, and an iron man. He considers himself a long time gym rat and started lifting when he was 13 years old in the basement of his family’s New Jersey home. In those days he used old school sand weights and lots of calisthenics.
In 2019 he became a certified personal trainer and helped people gain and maintain fitness and achieve their goals.
He started seriously lifting in 2022. He hired a coach and trained for his first show, competing in Men’s Physique, Summer 2023. He won 40+, 45+ and 50 Masters, and placed second overall. He can’t wait to keep on; goals are set on going Pro!
Lisa has been active for most of her life, sometimes in triathlon training, spin class, yoga, and weight lifting. She played in a women’s indoor rec soccer league for a hot minute in Michigan. Now she has become a gym rat, too.
She likes to lift and train, but has yet to be convinced to train for a show or to compete (although James won’t give up on this). Much appreciation for those who do, though!
Lisa also works in private practice as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She thinks that there is truth in the mind-body connection and fitness and mental health are inseparable.
